I saw Salome by Strauss this past Saturday. Hailed as a great opera, I was a little disappointed. The story is very very slow and the characters have no personality, but John and Salome. Also, this production was a little odd, since the sets looked like minimalist Nazi buildings, the costumes were from all sorts of periods, none of which were Biblical, and the pivotal dance scene was Salome running and shimmying.
( Here's what I thought I was getting into... )
On a brighter note, I finally got my own digital camera. I received one for Christmas, but there was dust between the lenses, so we had to send it back. This time, I have a nice hard rubber case to protect my camera. Huzzah!
