I'm taking my first art class since I graduated high school, and it is fantastic. My professor is really laid back, fun (and Italian), and the complete opposite of the horror that was my high school art teacher.

It also looks like I'm going to have no job this summer. I thought that Apple was a good, fail-safe plan, but they're not hiring people just for the summer due to the economy. :(

Friday night, my computer started making a strange noise so I turned it off and it wouldn't turn back on. I hauled it up to the Apple store and they told me that the hard drive had failed. I lost all my drawings and photos that I hadn't uploaded to the internet, all my writings for school, my operating system, the Office suite, and all my music. I got my computer back yesterday and have spent the past few days finding my photos and art from other places, pulling my music off my ipod and tracking down from whom I got Leopard and the Office suite. I didn't even think of some of the things I lost. I have to remember my bookmarks on the internet and reinstall all these programs. It is very tiring. Also, daylight savings time is making my internal clock freak out.

This is Spring Break; it's supposed to be stress free.

On the upside, I've been painting with watercolors for the last few days that my computer has been not working.

I love Beauty and the Beast. )
I have loved the Disney movie as long as I can remember. I think I just love that type of romance. Beauty and the Beast, Labyrinth, the myth of Hades and Persephone, Pride and Prejudice, etc. I just love me some pure masculinity. I am very self-actualized and a quasi-feminist, but Captain Von Trapp makes me weak at the knees. I'm very much attracted to the man who commands a presence something fierce, is very assured in his manliness, and yet is so vulnerable in love. I eat this up with a spoon. Mmmm, manly and powerful.

On a completely unrelated note, I'm taking a poetry class that I had to beg to get into this semester. It's a cool class, but I have yet to say anything of value, which is a little disheartening. However, our assignment for tomorrow was to read "Daddy" by Sylvia Plath. It is a very beautiful and very sad poem. The hardest part of this class is that we have to write daily paragraphs responding to what we have read, which is usually 4 or so poems. I really hate this because there are no real parameters and I'm not sure what he wants.
I just want to turn my book in and he can decipher my notes. )

After nearly two years of Nolwenn, I decided to change the layout on my lj today. My internet was freaking out, so it took forever for everything to load, but I'm pretty happy with what I went with. I've also began tagging my entries, but since this journal goes back to May 2004, it's going to be rough going back and adding tags to all those entries (plus, coming up with tags is hard because I want to use things I can use later in order to categorize things, but I feel like my entries are either completely random ramblings or too diverse to be categorized).

My other project has been making Avatar icons and formalizing a wardrobe and a really cheesy background story for my pirate, Edie. I've already come up with some pretty cliché crazy stuff, and hopefully I'll get the rest of her wardrobe done by the end of the week. I really love designing clothes and I think after I get everything established, I'm going to use her to work on more dynamic poses and stuff like that.

Also after nearly two years, I finally got Heathen by Bowie. I like what I've heard, but I need to listen to it a few more times. Speaking of music, I bought the Juno soundtrack last night, and I really enjoy it. It's very laid back and folksy, which isn't normally my music, but I did it nonetheless.

2 exams down, 1 to go. Luckily, I'm done much earlier than most everyone else, that being @ 11 tomorrow morning.

Instead of studying... )

Mucha inspired dragon )

I'm trying to figure out what to put in the top blank. I want something that when translated into French looks really cool. I tried 'dragon', but it is the same in both English and French. Other thoughts include : 'east', 'red', and something with the moon and dragon.
